Quincy, Illinois, once Illinois third largest city, is located five miles south of Ursa. Quincy hosts a variety of art shows, musical events and great selection of restaurants. If history and architecture interest you, Quincy has a vivid story to tell of notable figures of the past that include Abraham Lincoln, John Wood and the Mormon journey across America.
A slightly further drive north will take you along the river to the quaint and historically beautiful town of Nauvoo. Originally built as a Mormon settlement, Nauvoo is host to over 60 historical sites and is still to this day an important part of the Mormon religious history. The Nauvoo Temple, reconstructed in 2002, was built as a replica of the original temple built in the same location in 1846.
